The business started when John and Ann Murray moved from London to Yate to try and make a better life for themselves and their two children, Mandy and Ian.
The opportunity arose from a Bristol hire company, who wanted John to work for them, and employed Ann to do the Accounts.
As time went on they both had a thought – why not try going into Business for ourselves? With the experience that they both had from many years working in London and Bristol. Murray Hire Centres Ltd was then formed in 1982.
Their first Unit for the business was on the Beeches Trading Estate off Stover Road, Yate. There they formed a nice liaison with their customers and soon had regulars coming in for a chat and a cup of coffee as well as any friendly advice they asked for about any job, big or small.
A few years later, we found that we were running out of space. As a result, we had to make the decision to acquire bigger premises which is where you will currently find us on Armstrong Way in Yate.
Ann and John sadly passed away in 2008 and 2015 respectively. The company is now ran by their two Children Mandy and Ian.
Our business is a family concern. With Ian’s wife Elaine and Daughter Kelly also working alongside us. Our tightly-knit team, with the good and hard-working members of staff, keep it all going here at Murray Hire Centres Ltd. We work together as a happy, friendly and helpful team – making it one big happy family.
